Bible in a Year - Day 224

Returning to the Bible in a Year after a break for December's Jesse Tree and Christmas celebrations.

Day 218 - Psalm 75, 76 & 77; Romans 6
With your mighty arm you redeemed your people,
the descendants of Jacob and Joseph. (Psalm 77:15)
Your path led through the sea,
    your way through the mighty waters,
    though your footprints were not seen.

You led your people like a flock    by the hand of Moses and Aaron. (Psalm 77:19-20)
If we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. (Romans 6:5-7)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23)

Day 219 - Psalm 78; Romans 7
Yet he was merciful;
    he forgave their iniquities
    and did not destroy them. (Psalm 78:38)
But he brought his people out like a flock;
    he led them like sheep through the wilderness.

He guided them safely, so they were unafraid;    but the sea engulfed their enemies. (Psalm 78:52-53)
Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Romans 7:25)

Day 220 - Psalm 79, 80 & 81; Romans 8:1-18
I removed the burden from their shoulders;
    their hands were set free from the basket.

 In your distress you called and I rescued you,
    I answered you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah. (Psalm 81:6-7)
I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt.
Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. (Psalm 81:10)
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful humanity to be a sin offering. (Romans 8:1-3)

Day 221 - Psalm 82, 83 & 84; Romans 8:19-39
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does he withhold

from those whose walk is blameless.
Lord Almighty, blessed are those who trust in you. (Psalm 84:11-12)
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (Romans 8:26)
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then can condemn? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? (Romans 8:31-35)
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

Day 222 - Psalm 85, 86 & 87; Romans 9
You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.

You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.

You set aside all your wrath    and turned from your fierce anger. (Psalm 85:1-3)
The Lord will indeed give what is good,    and our land will yield its harvest. (Psalm 85:12)
You, Lord, are forgiving and good,    abounding in love to all who call to you. (Psalm 86:5)
Teach me your way, Lord,
    that I may rely on your faithfulness;
give me an undivided heart,
    that I may fear your name. (Psalm 86:11)

For great is your love toward me;
    you have delivered me from the depths,
    from the realm of the dead. (Psalm 86:13)

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,    slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. (Psalm 86:15)

Day 223 - Psalm 88 & 89; Romans 10
Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?    You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you. (Psalm 89:8)
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;    love and faithfulness go before you. (Psalm 89:14)
...for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Day 224 - Psalm 90, 91 & 92; Romans 11:1-21
Lord, you have been our dwelling place    throughout all generations. (Psalm 90:1)
Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. (Psalm 90:14)
Surely he will save you
    from the fowler’s snare
    and from the deadly pestilence.

 He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. (Psalm 91:3-4)
